France Wins Fog-delayed Men’s Relay in Antholz

France won the final competition before the Sochi Olympic Winter Games, taking the men's 4 X 7.5K relay in 1:14:34.6, with four spare rounds. Sweden with a penalty and five spare rounds finished 2.6 seconds back. Germany finished third, with a penalty and 10 spare rounds, 38.8 seconds back.

Fog Forces Women’s Relay Cancellation in Antholz

Fog enveloped the Antholz Stadium during the second leg of the women's relay this morning, forcing officials to cancel the event. The fog was so thick that everything beyond 25 meters was completely white.

Andrea Henkel Takes Antholz Pursuit

Clean-shooting Andrea Henkel of Germany won the women's 10K pursuit in 31:04.5, taking the lead after the final standing stage and holding off Belarusian Nadezhda Skardino who also shot clean, by 1.6 seconds. Third went to the fast finishing Tora Berger, with three penalties, 6.6 seconds back.

Schempp and Hofer Tie in Antholz Sprint

Germany's Simon Schempp and Italy's Lukas Hofer tied for first place, with a time of 22:44.9 in the Antholz sprint today, marking the first career wins for both of them. Schempp shot clean while Hofer had a single standing penalty. Schempp's teammate Arnd Peiffer was third, also shooting clean, 4.6 seconds back.

First Win for Bescond in Antholz Sprint

France's Anais Bescond claimed the first podium and the first win of her career by taking the 7.5K sprint today in 20:32.2, with a single penalty. Second place went to Andrea Henkel of Germany, who shot clean but finished 6.7 seconds back. Belarusian Darya Domracheva finished third, with two penalties, 10.1 seconds back.

Meet Team New Zealand...Sarah Murphy Video

25-year-old Sarah Murphy comprises the smallest "team" on the E.ON IBU World Cup circuit, because she is the whole team every week; no coach or wax tech or physio is with her as she travels biathlon's high road. A team cannot get much smaller than one person; of course she has support from other teams, friends, family and sponsors along the way. Yet those people come and go. At the end of the day it is always Murphy, her rifle and skis. However tough it is to be alone in such a high stakes sport, she always has a smile on her face.
